This Ruger 10/22 was brought to me for a refinish job. This one should be interesting. Pictures don’t do a justice on just how bad this is.

I'd like to see the finished piece.
Guess I wonder what makes that rifle valuable enough to put that kind of money into it?

There's no way to justify money spent on guns, bows, fishing rods, ski's, motorcycles, guitars, (you know, stuff). Except to the buyer :)

I just finished a 10/22 "like" build. It has a couple Ruger OEM parts, the receiver cross pins. The cost, about 4-6 times what most would consider a 10/22 worth, about half of what I could have spent. Just ordered a Leupold 3X-9X AO to top it off. Cost more than a new .300 Weatherby. But it was fun to put it together, and I'm sure it will shoot just fine. It was worth the money to me. Now I'm getting a box ready to send a new M700 action off to Pac-Nor, will be worth every penny when I get it back, (that will cost a truck load of pennies I am sure), but hey, life is short.

Not sure I'd spend much to fix the OP's shooter, but he will, and still feel OK about it when finished. Ya never know ???

Looks like the one I lost in a boating accident. 😬

I had the same question for such an inexpensive rifle, hardly a collectable:
