marshall, that was too easy, if the autoloader is a handgun, you can use a wire handled minnow dipper. bend the handle so that the net is over the port to catch the brass, while gripping the wire handle. this is how i shot my glock 40. till i sold it anyway. thanks for the tips. halfbreed

I struggled with this for awhile and finally bought an inexpensive metal detector.  Ten minutes when we are done shooting gets the brass back and if I'm lucky the kids fight over using the thing.  It is almost as much fun as shooting.

I know it's not an original idea because I think of it every time I shoot but I am too lazy to walk back to the truck and when I do go back I forget it. Dang this getting old is no fun.

I think it's a great idea. Semi pistol's it will work fine.. My problem is my Mini 14 slings brass pretty far and never in the same direction. I would need a tarp 30 by 50 in feet..LOL >>Elliot
