My Ruger Super RedHawk in 454 Casull has top strap erosion after about 300 to 400 rounds.  It's about 1/16" wide and about .010" deep.  My co-worker has the Taurus model and has fired lots more rounds through his and has no such problem.  Does anyone have any advice, or information on this.

Mat,
Top strap erosion was the demise of the great .357 maximum, do to uneducated gun writers. Once the erosion reaches a certain point, it will stop. It's just cutting its own gas vent, again, once a certain level is reached, it will stop. Certain gunwriters made a big deal out of nothing, and Bill Ruger just pulled the gun, he was so disgusted with them. Those Rugers are built so strong, with their beefed up frame, it will not be a problem. If you look at all revolvers, there are varying degrees of gas cutting present.

Don't worry, just keep on shootin' that Ruger, you're not going to wear it out.
