Universal M1 carbine

I have an Universal M1 carbine with a Serial Number staring with the letter L and has 4 digits.....I have looked on the Universal website to no avail.............Is there anyone in here that can help me or tell me where to look or email someone........Thanks in Advance.......

Bill Ricca's page on the Universals doesn't show any of them with an L prefix serial number. The only letter prefixes he shows are S (for stainless) and X (for presentation). The standard run started with serial number 100000, so even if the "L" is actually a "1" there's still too many digits. Beats me.

That's a first year gun, with mostly G.I. parts, and definitely G.I. parts compatible. Congratulations, I hope you got it for a good price.
