Good point 2bits. I have a Ruger#1 with a bull barrel on order at the local gun store. I found a good deal on a 22-250 in a Browning BLR. I suspect for a long day at the bench the Ruger will hold up better.
Hi, Rem 870 Kid:
If they're accurate in your .30-06, the 125 grain bullets are a better bet. They mushroom faster, which is better for small critters like chucks. This also lessens the danger of ricochets, although the .22s are better at disintergrating then they hit the ground. Remington also makes a 55 grain Accelerator which is a .22 bullet in a plastic sabot. .30-06 barrels are made for heavier bullets, so you might get better accuracy from them. All three big outfits make 125 grain loads for the .30-06. Have fun.
125 gr. Ballistic Tips really make jackrabbits fly apart when launched out of my .30-06. The recoil is a big much for all-day shooting, but no problem for the occasional chuck. Only downside is you might not get to see what happens at the receiving end, due to recoil.
