One of my toughest Cribbage opponents brought a nice collection of game camera pic's from the last 2 years.
This IR image,,, What may explain this Image??

Yep. I'm thinking that buck was in a breeder pen. A friend of mine who raises deer told me that when they get a fighter among the other bucks, instead of hurting two or three good bucks, they get rid of ( turn out) the trouble maker or cut his horns back. That same friend sells 140-150 B & C bucks for around $6500- $8500 per. Kind of amazing to me.
Give him a year then go get him!
Good luck

I watched a nine point on my trail cameras at my camp several years ago break off every point he had from the time the velvet came off until the day I shot him in gun season. No idea what he was doing, but he wasn’t getting “trimmed” by anyone.

Thanks for the replies and they all have merits, but the main beams are not changed at all, that is why I couldn't pick that reason.
I was thinking a possible reason might be from a feeder, some folks have been known to put strong wire above to speed the shedding process and that wire may still be there?
I believe it's illegal to do that but so many don't care what the law reads!
But, they appear to be SO uniformly cut/removed.
I know game farms in the state will cut the racks off most of their bucks about 1/2inch from base, and they collect the short base pieces after they are shed, and match to the antler and sell them together.
