Hello from Scotland~

I am now working on loads for a 1988 marlin .444 ss and VihtaVuori N133 using Lee 310 GC bullets.

Why N133 ? Well nearly all .444 load data is with American powders which cost me £30 per 1lb while VihtaVuori costs £49.70 per 1 kg (2.2lb) Also N133 is similar to IMR 4198 which seems to work well in .444. Also Jack R has had some good results with N133 in his .444ss using the same bullets

My starting point was 41 gn of N133 behind those Lee bullets, obviously in order to compare a load one must have some thing to compare it against, as i can not get factory .444 ammo my comparison load is 50.8 gn of H4895 which gave stiff recoil and good groups.

The recoil from 41 gn of N133 can be described as mild you could fire it from dawn to dusk with out damage to ones shoulder, the same could not be said of the Hodgons load !

As for grouping with this load i cocked-up and seated the bullets to 2.49" instead of 2.51" which is the max with this bullet in my rifle.
So i can not comment on grouping yet, i have loaded a new batch this time seated to 2.51" and i shall test them in due course and let you know how they performed.

I would be interested to hear from anyone else whos dabbled with N133 in .444 ???
