Hello, Ijust purchased a Wards Western Field Model EJN 757 cal. 30.06 Made in Belgium Serial # 4267. It has a series of proof marks/stamps from top to bottom 1. A star 2. The capital letter W 3. A figure that looks like a stick figure Raptor with 3 arms 4. 2 short lines/dashes, 5. Below the first line a capital P below the second line a capital V. 6. A form that looks like a candle stick with a stepped base.
I have searched and searched and cannot find if the rifle was mfg'd in Belgium and by what mfgr. Also the meaning of the Model number and the detailed facts of the proof marks.
All source references would be greatly appreciated and all detailed explanations. Jim PS It is a Mauser action
