Hello,

I have a 338Mx with an XS Lever Scout scope mount, and a Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 Long Eye Relief Scope.

I want to get Leupold Quick Release rings to mount the scope. Will the scope clear with the LOW rings, or will I need Medium rings with the 40mm?

I want it as low as possible as long as nothing rubs.

I also want to add a peep sight later on, not sure if that effects the equation.

Here is a chart of the heights of some common rings.

http://www.midwayusa.com/midwayusa/staticpages/charts/ring_height_comparisons.htm

Leupold Standard Low: .150

Leupold Standard Medium: .270

Vs.

Leupold Weaver Style Low (Quick Release): .230

Leupold Weaver Style Medium (Quick Release): .350

As you can see the Quick Release rings are inherently taller.

I plan to mount the scope pretty far back compared to most scout setups. I am hoping to balance the rifle out as much as I can.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Why don't you email or phone Leupold on their 1-800 number and ask the technicans and get the answer straight from the horse's mouth?
