The reciever scope mount screws on my ruger 10-22 stripped out.Should i try to get the 10-22 drilled and tapped or buy a Mossberg 702 and scope it?Which would be cheaper?Ive been eyeing a Mossberg 702,so i may git the 702 and keep the 10-22 for a''back up''.Again, which would be cheaper?

drilling and re-tapping of the receiver screws will be much cheaper.

Your time and the cost of the appropriate drill bit and tap. Figure, an hour of time from set up to clean up and $25-30 if youi have to buy the tap and tap handle too.

I lkie the 10/22 and wouldnt swap it out for a new rifle unless I felt that urge.

Even if you had a gunsmith or machine shop drill and re-tap your gun it will be under $100. Unless you just have your heart set on the Mossberg I would stick with the Ruger. Cant beat a good ol 10/22

Or you could run the next size tap down the stripped holes and buy four new screws. I did this at a mom & pop hardware store in town, I took the receiver in and they loaned me the tap! With the screws I was out $2.
