I recently picked up on old browning shotgun. It is an automatic with the number R 7911 on the loading port. It has 2 barrels. I would like to get the gun refinished but would like to know what I have. Thanks for any info.

I have a semi-auto Browning 16 gauge 5 round shotgun.
The only number I can find is at the loading dock.
The gun says 'Made in Belgium' on the right side of the barrel.
The number is X07754
Can't really find it on the Browning site. They don't note Belgium made in their explanations.
Wondering if it's one of the 'Sweet 16's' I've heard about?
Looking to trade for handguns for my family.

The first serial number R7911 was made in 1954. That serial number range is R3100 to R20800. If it is a Sweet sixteen it will have a gold plated trigger. I do not think this is a Swt16.

The second serial number X07754 was made in 1947. That serial number range is X1001 to X13666, again if it is a Sweet Sixteen it will have a gold plated trigger.

Hello everyone. I also am having trouble with figuring the year of my sweet 16. It has sweet sixteen engraved on the reciever. The serial # is located at the loading chamber with an A on top then the number 225. The barrel serial number doesnt match and is stamped made in belgum. The trigger is gold and fn on the butt plate. Any help would be greatly appretiated.
