If you want to hear bad on standard types of Remington .22s go to RimFire Central.
As a kid, I was always partial to the .22s in the yellow boxes, but can not remember failures to fire until it came to Western Auto type brands.
That was in the 1950s.
But this summer, a friend and I were having a fun time with the .22s and I opened a new bulk box of Remington .22s and after a goodly number of Failures to fire, closed the lid and gave the box to the friend.
Am I a good friend or what, giving an almost full box of .22s away. JUNK!!!!!!!
Went to other brands of .22 and continued with the fun and no/zero/zip failures to fire.
AS stated, the Remington/Eley is a different animal. That is ELEY ammo and not Remington and as such shoots great.
However, there are just far, far too many people having issues with the typical offerings in the Remington line up to point to any thing but poor manufacturing and quality control!
Maybe there is no money to be made in manufacturing and selling .22 ammo.?.?.?.
But on the other hand, CCI for example started with and continues to produce huge amounts of .22s in a broad range of products and I can't remember the last time I had a failure to fire with a CCI product or the products in my favorite yellow Winchester box for that matter.
No, it is clearly and simply a problem with Remingtons manufacturing and QC.
I'm a handloader, but even considering that factor, hopefully that same attitude will not follow in the production of their centerfire products.
But one way or the other, the problems with REmington .22s has been an issue for so long and is so widely voiced, it is amaizing they have not taken steps to clearup the problem.
Anytime you have people having problems with your ammo, and those same people with the same firearms can switch to another brand without cleaning or other firearm prep. and have ZERO/zip/nada problems, YOU - Remington in this case - have a problem.
Keep em coming!
