I've probably gotten a reputation on this board as being a 260 REM bigot, but I think this year's opening day deer rifle will be my Browning A Bolt II in 270 WIN, with 130 gr Nosler BTs. My last 6 deer have been with my Ruger Compacts, and the Browning is getting really jealous of them.

What is/was your opening day deer and/or antelope rig this year? (Other game critters don't count in this informal survey.)

A week from today is opening day for my speedgoat season, will be taking my T/C
Hawken .54 flintlock.
2 days later is my opening day for deer, if I don't have my speedgoat yet will still be hunting with the flintlock.
For deer opener if I already have my speedgoat I will take my T/C Icon .308

My new Browning Acera Battue in 300WM will get the nod assuming I get a decent load worked up. Otherwise the BLR in .308 Win is always on stand by.

Tomorrow morning in Kentucky, my CVA 50 cal Optima w/Prostaff on top. On the 13th in Indiana an H&R Handi-Rifle in .44 mag topped with another Prostaff. For Kentucky on the 18th, 9.3x62 CZ 550 FS w/Zeiss on top OR, if bad weather my Marlin .375 w/Weaver V3 on top. In Tennessee on the 20th my 50+ yr old Sako Mauser in .270 w/Leupold on top. Somewhere in between, the same set-up for Tennessee M/L as for Ky M/L. :D

Couldn't make up my mind, today it was H&R handi-rifle in .308

Tomorrow it will be M1 Garand.

Sunday it will be Lyman/Cougar inline 50 cal muzzle loader.

44 mag, Super Blackhawk revolver goes with me in case I see pig or deer is under 60 yards.

Monday I am down to 22 rifle for squirrel, not sure which one yet. Tree's dropping cover pretty fast so shotgun won't be necessary this year.
