My understanding was that Winchesters are made in New Haven, except for re- introduced classic models like the 92, 86 ,95 and model 52 22 bolt guns which are jap made Since patents have long expired, Browning re introduced some of these prior to buying Winchester guns(usrac). These were largely John Browning brain childs anyway. Winchester ammo is now owned by Olin in Illinios and Usrac owns Winchester guns , which is now owned by Browning. I dont know if Browning is part of a conglomerate now or it is still controlled by the Browning family. All the Winchester recent big bore, hi performance rounds (307, 356 and 375 ) havent done very well, I dont think any other ammo company ever made these rounds. If a shooter is lookin for that kind of performance opts for a bolt gun. The 358 win  is a great round Browning offered it for years in the Blr and they stopped offering it several years ago. Lever shooters are opting for 444 and 45/70  and they are buying Marlin.
