Does anyone know where to get a weatherby mark v action for 308 win ,243 .I want to buld a bolt action 458 socom .it has the same rim as a 243 ,308 30-06 45 acp yada yada .I could buy and probably will buy a left hand savage for this since i can find one for 300$ or so.And a weatherby action cost 700$ plus barrel which is 700$ plus getting a gunsmith to install which is 100-300$ basically a 1900$ rifle wow lol .I could do the savage for 1300$ or less .Does anyone make barrels cheaper than 700$ it's stainless steel .Besides where can i find a weatherby new mark v action just encase i wanted to go that route does anyone carry them or can i get it directly from weatherby ?

Guess I'll start out with "I dunno." I'd check pawn shops and used gun places for a donor. I didn't know tubes were running a grand to buy/install....ouch

WEll i dont know what to do i really want a 458 caliber.Not a 460 weatherby just yet .I like the 458 socom because it's moderate power and i know it would be easy to put in a 308 gun plus it has a case length of 1.5".I would prefer a 458 lott in a Mauser action but i hear it wouldn't fit .Would have been a good build since mauser's can be had for 130-200$.Well it's the barrel is actually 650$ but i was adding a few bucks in for the extra length i wanted .You know any where that has cheaper barrels ?

Good Lord, yes. Try Brownell's. Shillen barrels are from $200-$300, that ballpark. You could try Midway too.

yeah but i want a 33" barrel with a .750 muzzle.I know weird size barrel for this particular caliber but it's what i want .probably ask pac-nor
