On August 20th I placed an order with Beartooth. I was emailed back that it would take 12-14 weeks to get the bullets. Last week I emailed inquiring about the status of the order, only to get an automated response that I would be getting a response. Since then I have emailed twice, only to receive more automated responses. Has anyone else been throught this? At this point I am thinking it might easier to cancel and order from another bullet maker.

Keith,
1) These bullets are worth the wait.
2) I ordered 2 boxes of .460 bullets July 10th, 2001.

I haven't receieved my order yet either, nor notification that it has been shipped. Glad I didn't need them for elk season, I didn't draw a tag. Maybe I could get a job with BTB and help speed things up a little. I know last winter there were health problems at BTB but I thought those were over with by now. I don't know what the hold up is now.

 Confused in Central Oregon......
 .......But I'm stayin' cool!

"Marshall hasn't been well and is backlogged on his orders. Hope this helps."

This quote came from the handgun forum. Maybe this is the reason?

Tust me, these bullets ARE worth the wait....Have never used cast bullets of this quality. I waited a long time too. After you receive your first order, order some more right away if you like them......

Beartooth contacted me and said that the 250 gr. 45s could be sent , but the 300grs. were the reason for the wait. I guess I'll wait to see how good they are. Deer season in Texas will be over soon, but there's always the pigs.

"Here is your receipt for your order with Beartooth Bullets on April 28, 2001, 4:48
pm.
We are currently experiencing a 12-14 week backlog on all bullet orders."

I have waited 30 weeks.
I'm ahead of you guys.

Clark,

How is the quality of Jon's bullets over at Western in your opinion. I believe they are stock Lyman numbers, correct?

Gentlemen,

Many thanks for your patience! Yes, we are terribly backlogged in orders! In the past we have been unrealistically optimistic as to delivery times... for that I am sorry. You'll notice that we are now notifying our customers up-front on our bullet selection and shopping cart that we are currently 6-9 months backlogged at this time!

Perhaps you'll notice my abscence on this forum... I do enjoy the forum very much, but if I have the time and energy to be on the forum, I have instead been making bullets to fulfill you very patient people's orders! We've been spending fully 14-16 hours per day on a regular basis making bullets and filling orders. In a hand production operation such as ours, and in keeping the integrety of our product quality, there are only so many bullets can be humanly produced in any 14 hour period. I WILL NOT compromise our quality in persuit of quantity!

We do thank each and every person for their patience with us, and we are trying very diligently to meet your needs as fast as humanly possible. In deference to our backlog neither my son nor I even went elk hunting this year (living in Idaho too, no less!), and I spent a total of four evenings of two hours each evening and until noon on the last day of our deer season total hunting this year, instead trying our best to make sure as many of your orders were filled as possible.

Again, many thanks, and we do look forward to working for, and with you all in the year to come!

God Bless,

Marshall Stanton

Marshall - great site and I am excited to try your bullets. The wait has backlog has prevented me from ordering. You may have heard of a guy named Andrew Carnegie, I think he said something like " I would rather have 1% of 100 men then 100% of one(1) man." And I think he knew something about business. You post the secret of business in your replies here, you can only do so much in your 24 hours. It appears to be time to expand or keep people up to date on production delays.

Got my bullets today. Gonna be real careful of how I load them and what I shoot with them. Thanks Marshall for your responses.

Gee, have you checked the bullets on those other sites? They look good enough for plinking and cowboy action, etc. The sizing ranges (if listed) are too small for my rifle and the choices are very poor.

Marshall is offering quality, gents. A Purdey takes a couple of years to make and it looks like to we have to wait a few months to get hand cast bullets to hunt with that we can trust. Big deal.

Let's face it, too, that Marshall's site is very professional and has the best info on this subject than any other source -- certainly better than anything you have to pay for, like a magazine.

The alternatives are to wait and cast them ourselves, use jacketed or plink with the crappy competitors and freeload the info that is provided on this site.

Marshall-It appears that I have put off many of your loyal customers with my questioning of the lack of feedback I was getting from your organization. You must be a good man judging from your posts and their defense of you, but in truth there is a lot of people out there reading this topic -so you must know that there are others out there asking the same questions. In the future if I order bullets, I will know the timeframe. Happy Holidays and God bless. -Keith

Keith, I don't think anyone is offended. You have a legitimate question.

Rather, I take it that people are letting you know how happy they are with the product.

Anyway, best bet, if you like the bullets you get, is to immediately order a bunch more, so you'll have them when you need them.

I'm sure Marshall will get caught up as soon as he can, and I know he'd like to get people their bullets as soon as possible.

There was quite a wait for my order this year. I didn't even think about the bullets through most of the wait and was pleasantly surprised when I got a call saying the bullets were ready and would be shipped soon. This year, there have been other things more important. My family has been through serious illness, lots of changes and now the sale of the company I work for. I had quite a scare about my own health. Waiting for a few bullets while Marshall had his own health issues to deal with just doesn't seem like a major crisis. The bullets are here and I have learned much about trying times, grace and the power of prayer.
May we all have a blessed Christmas. Ed

Folks,

You buy Beartooth you get great hand crafted bullets worthy of any game you wish to use them on. At a great price! These would be a bargain at twice the price. You also get a terrific web site and knowledge base that is tremendous.

What you need to realize is that you need to order a years worth at a time. For some that may be a few hundred for others many more. Then after 6 months place another order. That way you won't run out.

Other casters can supply bullets but finding ones that are sized correctly and made decently is a challenge.

Please appreciate that you can order craftsman quality for production prices!!

Beartooth products are significantly higher quality than anything I have seen from national or regional casting outfits. I do mean that exactly as stated- better than anything. I have cast a bunch myself in years past and I have to tell you getting bullets as good as Beartooth's take time. You have to be a perfectionist. If Marshall were to expand his operation, more than likely quality would suffer and the price would most certainly go up. Patience is cheap and is its own reward. Order well ahead of hunting season and all is right in the shooting world. 'nuff said
