I'm looking to get my first .22 for small game hunting and target. I have pretty much set my eyes on the marlin 925, or the marlin 981t. I just wanted tO get some opinions on these two rifles before I buy one. Such as accuracy and dependability between the two. Thanks

Well, for the most part, Marlin rifles are inherently accurate. Their rimfire rifles particularly so.

I wouldn't be surprised if about 25% of the guys who started with a .22, was holding a 925, or one of the single shot variants, or a Sears etc.

Buy it. It will definately be a "squirrel disaster" for the local tree rats, ground gogs will hate it, so will crows in the garden.

If you can shoot it out, you will likely make Guiness Worlds Records.
