The last time I ever went deer hunting I carried a Mossberg M500 with 12ga slugs. Didn't see any deer. I had a S&W M629 revolver with me as well. .44 Remington magnum.

i currently shoot a 308 stryker and a t/c 45-70 super 16. The stryker is the most accurate 308 i have ever shot. With 170 soft points have gotten my best 50 yd group of under 3/8 inch. The 45-70 is definitely a real handful with the 325 ftx.

Been putting venison in the freezer with a T/C super 14" in 35 Remington for thirty years, season comes in about a month from now. Going out Friday to verify my zero with my Handloads.

I used to go deer hunting with my S&W Model 629 .44 Magnum 6-inch revolver here in VT. Never saw a deer.
