Has anyone ever tried Winchester 231 powder in shot shells. I have a lot of it and according to the burn rate charts it looks like it fits in the slow burning shot shell powder range.

Well, burn rate is a relative thing, and W231 is a progressive burning powder. "Progressive" is a very loose term.

I have never seen a load recommended for W231, even though in many cartridges it's a dead ringer for Unique, and Universal. The fact that there's no data tells me that it gets "aggressively progressive", when pushing a oz of shot, in a thin shotgun barrel.
