I believe it does. The longer barrel helps you to follow deer when the deer are in motion at the shot. The added velocity is not a small matter. We have had several threads on the Beartooth forum about long barrel 30-30’s and the 30-30AI. For a surprise look at the results from the 26” barrel 30-30.
The longer sight radius helps to improve accuracy.
I shoot the 16”, the 20” and the 26” 30-30’s and the long barrels are a favorite.

I find that my 26" barrel on mine just seems to "hang" better for me. I find I don't pull ahead of the animal, and over-lead, as much as with the 20" barrel. The short barrel moves quicker, that's for sure, and the long barrel moves smoother. LOL, and at 100 yards I really don't care about the extra velocity.

I prefer 24 to 26

I have a 1968 Buf Bill that I really like with 26". I bought it used or should I say unused. I shoot it as I am not a collecter. It seems to like Sierra 150gr .308. It is great quality and the heavy barrel realy seems to add to the accuracy. I have also ran almost 100 BTB 173gr.310 LFN GC. Those are not as accuratefor me. I may try .309 or .308 LFN GC next or maybe it would like 150gr lead.

knorris948 .......... from what I've been reading on shooting cast bullets ... they recommend using a cast bullet .001" oversize from your bore. I wanna try some .309's in mine.
