I've Been trying to find a stock for my 1885 Winchester 25-20 SS. The original has a crack that doesn't effect the operation but it detracts from the appearance.
I've ended up with two stocks so far but each one is a little different.
One is narrow where it attaches to the receiver, measures about 1.33" width, I need 1.375".
The other has the correct receiver measurement but the notch for the butt plate isn't long enough and the stock didn't come with one. I might end up attempting to make the notch longer, hate to do this and risk damaging a good stock.
Just how many different variations exist for the 1885.
For a rifle made in around 1887 the rifle is accurate considering the open sites.
