Just bought myself a ( strange) 356 AE. Can`t find anything about thisone on the net so i hope someone here can help me. It has gold plated barrel bands, trigger, loading gate, and some of the other " things" in side. It has a small brass button at the bottomside of the front stock with the engravements "T N". It also have a arrowhead lookalike brass plate at the bottomside of the rear stock, just behind the lever, with a cartridge bottom engraved into it. Brass and black buttstock with the winchester logo on it, and brass or gold plated magazinecap with the "W" on it. There is no other engravements. The serial number is 5605224. Thanks.

Some pics would be a great help. The .356 was made in the AE version for several early years, but not in the configuration as you have described. I would suggest that you have a limited edition or commemorative of some type. There were quite a few companies doing that at the time yours was made.

According to my records you gun was made in 1989 but no factory guns were made in that configuration. It is most likely an aftermarket commemorative of some type.

Or somebody just had some plating and other work done on their gun. If you don't like what they did, parts shouldnt be too hard to find.

I've had several factory commemoratives that had shiny parts. I tend to replace them with blued parts while I own and use them, and swap the shiny parts back when I sell the gun.

You could call Winchester to see if they did the work for someone, but I don't know if they've done that sort of thing in a long time.
