I purchased a winchester 94 30-30 ! The serial # is 2587xxx, and according to what I've read, Winchester never used the numbers from 2586000 to 2700000. Does anyone know if this is true and if it isn't, then my gun would be pre-1964:confused:

The year of manufacture for serial number 2587xxx is 1964.

The post 64 model began with S.N. 2,700,000.

That's what I thought. but I read in another site that the serial numbers from 2586000 to 2700000 were not used. So that information has to be wrong because mine exists!!

Never say never with Winchester. As soon as you say Winchester NEVER did something you will then find an example where they did. You can tell the difference between Pre-64 and Post-64 at a glance. Let's see some good pics of the serial number and bottom of the receiver.

Just got around to checking my inventory and found 2 in the same serial range, 2593xxx and 2599xxx. Must be more common than one would think !!
