I am a new owner of a .357 mag Ruger GP 100 revolver and want to buy some factory rounds and then reload the brass.

Is there a difference in the brass used in Winchester USA brand vs. Winchester Super X? Quite a difference in price, maybe it is the bullet and powder, but have not read anywhere about the brass quality between the two. Thank you.

Can't say for sure as I have not purchased factory ammunition for years but if either Winchester brand brass is headstamped w-w, Winchester, or Winchester Super X, it is the same brass that I have been using for my reloads. Whether the brass you've purchased is from a box of Winchester USA or Super X, both have to meet SAAMI .357 magnum specs so I wouldn't worry about choosing either brand and reloading the brass. Just be aware that loading hot for any brass will shorten it's life. Hope this is the answer that you're looking for.

Pete,
I have a local range that sells once fired by the bucket. Not even sorted by cartridge brand or caliber.

As such, I sort and weigh brass to make sure things match up. The USA brass does have a few off center holes, but the weight is the same. Otherwise I can't tell any difference. I find even off center flash holes don't make any difference with an iron sight handgun, that you can find shooting at 25yds.
