I found a Winchester Model 75 in mint condition at a gun show today.
It has a Redfield target sight with knobs and a globe front. When I got it home, I noticed that where the bold handle connects to the bolt there seems to be a loose joint because it moves at that point. Is this correct? You would think that the bolt handle would be solid with the bolt. Anyone have a model 75?

I have exactly the same rifle and exactly the same problem. Doesn't prove anything one way or the other regarding whether or not it's "right" but I've put an awful lot of rounds through it with no problems.

I have the 75 target model. Mine came with a Fecker target scope, a 5rd mag, a 10 rd mag and a single shot adapter. A nice rimfire. No trouble with my bolt handle though.

A M69/M75 bolt handle, that's loose on the bolt body, is decidedly NOT normal, or "all right".

It can be tightened.

Winchester Model 75 bolt

Thank you all for the exellent fix for my wobbly bolt. I've always wanted
a model 75 and this one was really pristene. The blueing is almost 100%
with no dents or dings in the stock and everyting else including the redfield sights are correct. It was disappointing to find a loose bolt when I got home. They use plactic zip ties at the gun shows so you can't operate the bolt. I can't wait to shoot it since waiting several months for two bricks of 22 target ammo from Midway.

Model 75 loose bolt

Final note to story. Took my 75 to my gunsmith after reading solution on Rimfire Central. There was quite a bit a play where the handle meets the bolt. Two long stake marks looked like factory applied by machine. Very uniform on both sides of bolt, but still loose. Gunsmith worked into joint black adhesive used for glueing on shotgun ribs and sights. He then shaped a punch to fit for a stake. A few light taps and solid as a rock. I ask him how much and he said no charge it was worth seeing the gun. Just love happy endings to gun stories.
