I just bought a yguo 24/47 mauser and Im not sure how to operate the safty, really could use some help with this.

It's simple. The lever goes from "fire" at the 9 o'clock position to safe with bolt operation at the 12 o'clock position to safe with bolt lock at the 3 o'clock position. I just posted in another thread with some good links to some Mauser sites. Check that thread out.

Addendum to the above post: the action must be cocked for the safety to move.

Ok i removed the bolt and am trying to take it apart to clean it. i pushed in the sleave lock plunger without it being in safe. now it wont return to original position. the cocking piece is in the way of the safty lever.

Hook the cocking piece on the edge of a table, retract it by pushinf down on the bilt. When the cocking piec moves enough to clear the shroud, rotate the shroud in to proper position.
