Remington 770 Warning--

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I'm privy to information and photographs that leads me to believe there is a very serious and very dangerous condition present in Model 770 Remington rifles. It will take a week or two to sort out the details and examine the rifle but for now, please just sit the 770s in the corner until this is sorted out. Nobody should lose an eye to factory ammo!!

On a scale of 1 to 10 for "junk model" (one being a pipe, nail, and rubber band, and ten being a "Saturday night special"), can you assign a value?
Not listed at the Remington web page (that I can find). Might be discontinued and collectible now?

Cheezy, I would assign its value equal too that of a cheap boat anchor.
My son bought one in .243 and it was down right terribly made. Everything about it from the el cheapo tupperware stock to the sticky action screamed cheap. He shot it one time and luckily sold it too a local gs for the same $180 he paid for it new from the local F&S. He learned his lesson real quick on "you get what you pay for".
One simply has to type "Remington 770 issues" into the internet and they will have endless reading.

It's very sad what has become of Remington. I acquired two in the late 90s/2000s. I grew up quail hunting with a gentleman who had an old 1100 Remington that never failed. I traded a talented b!tch setter for an 1187 thinking it had to be as good or better. Well it turned out to be junk, constantly jamming. Reputable gunsmiths could not get it totally corrected. Later I received a 20 Ga 870 for Christmas. Something was faulty with the design of the plastic magazine follower. It would jam frequently also. Not as often as the 1187, but often at inopportune times afield. I finally designed/altered the follower into something that works as it should, but you should never have that problem with a pump shotgun. The old Remington stuff is good (save the trigger/safety on
some of the rifles), but I don't think much of the newer stuff at all.
