Remington/Pollard Class Approved--

More confusion for gun owners--

This morning, Judge Smith filed a 42 page opinion that addressed the objections expressed by me and several others but then denied all objections and approved the Pollard 'Settlement' as amended and proposed. I'll get a list of that information together for those interested. There is only an 18 month window to git 'r dun.

I haven't read the opinion yet and wont comment until I do.

Here is the final order of the judge.

Any award that gives the attorneys 12.5 million dollars and an extra half million dollars in costs to the law firm sounds fair to me.

Here's a CNBC report on the decision with a link to how to file at the end.

If I had skin in the game, I'd be seriously considering an appeal. Is a difficult decision to defend on so many levels.
If I were just an owner of one of the defective rifles (no injury or loss), I'd be likely to just install an after market trigger and keep the Walker around as a reminder to avoid all things Remington.

But I'm not. And I won't be.

I'm out because I've already successfully altered my Remington triggers affected by both recalls. No need t bi**h, no need to switch.

Wow... how seriously lame...

some models specifically the 600, 660, 721, 722, 725 and XP-100 are considered too old to be retrofitted, so Remington is offering owners of those guns a product voucher worth between $10 and $12.50.

So those models are not safe and need to be fixed, but are to old to be fixed, so the owner gets a $10 coupon to buy something at the Remington store? That might be enough to buy a hat or something.

If I get food poisoning from a restaurant, the last thing I want is free food from the same place.

The coupon will pay for about 10% of the cost of the Timney I just bought....

As an additional note, as I own one of the affected Rem 700s with the Walker trigger, vintage 1971, in light of the judge's recent approval of the settlement, this morning, I called the customer rep on the number listed on the website. I previously filed a claim and was asking for more information about when I could be supplied a shipping container, etc.

In short, the customer service rep stated that the appeal delay from the judge's order would be 30 days, and if no appeal is taken, shipping arrangements would commence at that time.

Just FYI...

I would never Ever Ship My Whole Model 700 Varmint Special with my Leupold scope on it to them,? I will just buy a new Timney Trigger for it & have my gunsmith install it for me, Rather than go through the hassle of sending my rifle to Remington, My luck they would lose it on me,? And I would be S.O.Of Luck.
