.25 Tcu

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

Does anyone here have any experience with the .25 TCU (.223 rem case necked up for .257 bullets) in rifles? Any info is welcome, even Contender related, but I am really looking for rifle tales. Bullets, powders, barrel length, headaches, etc. Thanks!
To the pure life!

You can use Hornady 6mmTCU data for same weight bullets. Rifle speeds will only be between 10-15% higher than shown since Hornady already uses a 14" barrel rather than a 10". Sorry, no experience with a rifle barrel. The .25 will handle 85-100gr bullets a little better than the 6 but not as well as the 6.5 or 7. A number of us would be interested in your rifle results. One warning- do not use .257 Kimber data. It is based on the .222 MAG case with the shoulder blown forward, making it a good bit larger case.

If you are shooting the 257 T/CU in a Contender rifle, because of the unusually long throat, I would rechamber it for the longer 222 Rem. Mag. case and you could still use the same dies you are using now. They would just need to be backed off the shell holder some 1/2 to 3/4 turn because of the longer case. Also, this would allow for a shorter throat to be cut to where the lighter weight bullets could be seated closer to the rifling....
