Who makes factory 130 grain .308 loads suitable for hunting?
And would i get similar velocity, energy and trajectory to the .270 Win using 130 grain projectiles?

thanks

Yeah sorry guys, i should have mentioned, i hunt pigs. The pigs i hunt are not big pigs really (around 150 pounds), and the 150 grain soft points do a great job, i just wanted to try a lighter bullet for a change.
I dont handload (yet), and was wondering if there was any commercial 130 grain loads.

I was just told today about these TRU 130 Grain loads from Federal by guys here in Australia, they are loaded with a 130 grain speer jacketed hollow point with a muzzel velocity of 3050fps, a BC of 0.263 and a SD of 0.196, would these be any good for hunting?
I can continue using the 150 grain soft points if these are no good.

Thanks for the info guys. :)

Hmmm..... In general, hollow points (with lead cores) expand more than soft points. That would probably not be a good thing with pigs, in my experience.

You might as the manufacturer for their take on that bullet's construction.
Yeah thanks Mike. Why is more expansion a bad thing?
I was told this TRU 130 Grain ammo from Federal was custom made for Australia, so you guys may not have heard of it in America.

As a bullet impacts and expands it also loses its energy. If it loses too much energy too fast it may not penetrate into the vitals of the animal and/or not exit assisting in creating a good blood trail. This is the reason you don't use varmint bullets for big game. I can't say that is the case with the bullet you mentioned as I don't know anything about it.
Surely with the little pigs i shoot, more expansion shouldn't be a problem
