I'm not talking about pure paper, formal target shooting, and I'm not talking about a 'build.' I'm talking about shooting steel out to ~1,100 yards, but _usually_ only out to ~700. Sometimes supported, sometimes not. Standing, sitting, kneeling, prone, and over, under, and around things. Again, no 'builds,' just off-the-shelf rifles. Ruger's Varmint/Target Model or Browning's Long Range Hunter. These are the two I'm considering. I'd be curious for thoughts on the relative merits of each platform.
Also, in the Browning I'd likely have my choice of stainless or chrome-moly. I'm not too terribly concerned about rust where I live, though extra corrosion resistance is always nice. If, however, there's a difference in the strength of Browning's chrome-moly vs. stainless steels or something, that'd be well worth considering. It'd also be well worth considering if Ruger's Target stainless steel is considerably different than Browning's steels.
Thanks.
