Boyd's makes a stock for the Marlin 981T. You might check with them to see if they do for the 983T.

Thanks...I just checked their website and they don't have my model number listed. I sent them an email...maybe they have it anyway. I shoulda bought wood in the first place.

 

It is always possible also that the 981T stock will fit it.

Thanks. I like wood and don't know what possessed me to buy what I did. I've refinished several gun stocks, rifles and shotguns, as a hobby, but only for friends and family.

 

I don't know Marlins very well so what are the differences between a model 983S and a 983T ? The reason I ask is because Numerich gun parts has wood stock for a 983S.

 

I just checked their website. I think the difference in the 983T and the 983S is the stock. And I think the "S" model is stainless. Anyway, it doesn't matter; they say its out of stock.

Ok I see, when I got to their site it said they had (1) 983S in stock. Might be worth a call in case their site isin't up to date. Also that price is for a brand new stock, I've bought used stocks from them for much less, then refinished them myself. I like keeping those projects for winter so it passes the time until I can get to the range in the spring. Anyway, good luck in your search and let us know how it all shakes out for you.
