I bought a 26" heavy barrel in 25-06 for my Encore a while back. I had hoped it would shoot the same load as my M700 with 53.1 grs. H4831 and Serria 117 gr. BTSP but is isn't even close. A buddy suggested 110 gr Accubonds with RL 19. I went with 115 Balistic Tips and 52.5 grs. RL 19 for an acceptable group, 7/8 in", but I believe this gun could do better. One manuel a looked at said they got their best group with RL 25. Has anybody tried the two and if so what were the results?

Welcome to the shooter's forum, glad you joined us!

I have tried RL19. With bullet weights over 100 grains I couldn't get accuracy or velocity from it. I haven't tried RL25, figured it would be too slow with 110 Accubonds, which shoot very well in both of my 25-06s. However you might want to checkout RL-22. I've been very pleased with it and IMR4831.

I would never expect two rifles of the same caliber, but totally different action types, to shoot the same load extremely well. If they did, it would be a happy coincidence.

Have you tried adjusting the charge weight of H4831 for your 25-'06 Encore? That's really an excellent powder choice, even if it takes a different amount of it to get good accuracy from two different guns.

I shoot the 115gr Nosler BTs in my Ruger #1. 50.0 of RL22 gives me my best groups. I've also tried IMR4350 with much less success.

With that bullet, Nosler recommends 50.0 or RL19, claiming 3000fps. I have it in my load notes to try that, but haven't yet. I am doubtful it will give better results than what I'm getting from RL22, but we'll see.

I have used rl-22 for a long time in my sav. 112 with 115 bst. Stupid accurate. With a 24 power scope on a calm day, I have literally shot thumb tacks at 100 with friends watching. That never gets old. I just did my first attempt with rl-19 and 100 BT last weekend. Got only 3150 fps but well under inch group. Held up out to 400 also. Pretty sure I can bump up to 3300 fps with increase in charge. My 112 seems to shoot better on the high end. It has had a Stubbs bore treatment and is very smooth. Seems to need slightly more powder to achieve max pressure due to this. Imr 4831 gave 3350 and half inch groups with hornady 100 interlocks. Hammers deer.
