Ruger Percision 308

I just bought a Ruger Precision rifle in the 308 cal. I just tried 2 different Monarch 3 50 mm 6x24 scopes on this rifle. We could get it to zero but it took up all are most of the down elevation and right wind. I called Ruger and told them the serial numbers and they looked the rifle up and told me it passed they quality control test. What could be happening with these scopes or this rifle. Could it be that this rifle doesn't like a 50mm scope with a 1 inch tube. It not only has me baffled but it has the gun shop that sold me the scope. It was zeroed at 100 yrds. I have now taken that scope off and I have got a Leopold 5x20 by 44 ordered if this scope will not zero with using all of the adjustments the gun goes back to Ruger.

Lay a piece of one inch (copper) pipe in the rings and LOOK at how far off center it is. If the tube is different than the muzzle, take a picture and send to Ruger.
(In the late '60s, some M77 had crooked receiver threads. I started checking each rifle with a two foot piece of copper pipe before trying to mount a scope. A little over 1/8 difference at the muzzle is 20 MOA and half the scope's adjustment. You can see 1/8" difference!)

99% of scope mounting problems in Rugers is not having the rings seated right on the receiver. Attach the bottom halves first and check the fit with a one inch bar before risking a scope.

Think you are thinking of the classic half-moon mounts on the M77 series, Jack.
The RPR is essentially an American/AR hybrid, so they mount on a Pic style top rail.

I would also suspect the rings.
