I have been having these of varying degree, coming and going, for some time now.

 

Grab a screenshot if you can, guys. Also if you notice it happens with a particular ad on the screen, that is useful information too.

 

Mike the most recent was when I was on the the "New glass" post. Must of had 7 or 8 security warning popups in a row. When trying to write this thread had probably 5 more.

 

Don't ever click on those links. You'll end up with malware, get hacked, or a virus.

 

I'm not sure if the ads cycle through or not, so knowing what ad may be on the screen is more valuable than knowing what thread you were in. At least I'd guess that.

It has been reported up the chain, please let me know if there is any additional detail.

 

I'll pay attention to what ad is up when this happens. Tough for me to get a screen shot since I'm using a phone to access shooters forum.

Hey folks,

Can you firstly, clear your browsers cookies in case this is due to the bad cookie you picked up somewhere.

If you see a pop-up or alert, we will need a screenshot, the URL of the ad, or the URL of where you are redirected to (Usually sent to the app store)

Once we have that information we can look into it.

I'm being directed to download an anti-virus app from Google Play. Have no idea if that is where the link will take me since I haven't ever clicked on it.

Edit: Just now cleared everything in browser data. History, cookies, cache, passwords..everything. Will see if that helps.

 

Just happened again 5 times in a row. The security warning popups were stacked on top of each other (5 of them).
Opened the top one and copied the text by hand.

I do not believe that because "there previously had been some problems with PMs" that the present issue is a mere repeat of Yeah we are experiencing those same little nagging problems again. I have reason to believe that PMs have been hacked - if not even members' personal emails which were readable in the PMs between members. I also posted a while ago that it appears to not be from outside the forum.

 

The PM system has always been a little flaky. Seems to be a weakness of vBulletin. Email notifications of PMs can be blocked by spam filters, also the email notifications of thread updates. That's been a continual problem.

I'm having a difficult time believing anyone would go to the trouble of hacking the PM system. If everyone else's PMs look like mine, they are mostly load data, and planning hunting trips.... just not much useful information to a third party in it.

Simple issue Mike, make sure people put admin@shootersforum.com in their address book..

Some mail servers need that one including Yahoo.

 

I have the ads blocked, but I still get "redirects" and "virus warnings" about every other click to another "task" like going from the main page to "today's posts" or from there to a post I want to read.

Only this site too.

Not running ad block on android, it never happens. It's does on my PCs running ad block, but not consistantly

 

Honestly I don't think I have ever gotten a security warning on this site. Not sure what to tell you guys. Get screenshots if you can.

 

Security depends on browser and the fact you're running more than one server. You have more than one certificate and that's where it comes from. Running ad block here is a problem. Never have that one on Android because I don't run ad block.

 

Nor me and as Mike knows my computer is steam powered.
