Well, I wouldn't choose a 6-24X with a two-inch eye relief, that's for sure.

It rather depends on what you are hunting and under what conditions, but without any further hints, I'd suggest you look strongly at something like a Leupold 1.75-6X, or possibly a 2-7X. Just make sure it has a generous (like four-inch) eye relief.

 

Whatever kind of scope that suits you should be O.K.
Most guys with African rifles use lower powered wide field of view scopes
so if dangerous game comes after them they can pick up the picture real quick.
The .375 Ruger is not only powerful but it has a flat trajectory as well. So you might want a
little more powerful a scope than is traditionally used. 2X7 might be something to look
into. My Son has one on his Browning .458 and it seems to work all right.

I would go with a Leupold, something like a 3-9 power. I have one on my Marlin 1895 in 45-70. Never had a problem.

My ruger 375 wears a zeiss conquest 3x9. Great eye relief and can take the recoil without a problem. They are on sale now for $399. The best scope you can buy for the money in my opinion! The optics are crystal clear.

 

I agree with gunchamp. If you can get a Zeiss for $399, that would be a nice set up. I like fixed scopes for ruggedness and clear optics though. A Leupold FX-4x would be a good durable scope as well.

 

Hmmmm, I would probably go with a Leupold in 2x7, or heck if the Zeiss is on sale for $399 it would be awfully hard to pass up. Although a 2x7 would probably be my upper limit in terms of magnification.... Either way.... have fun with it.

Is a Zeiss TWICE as good as a Leupold....?....I think not. Soooo......give Cabela's a call. Order their 2-7X33 shotgun/ML scope with it's heavy duplex. Regular price is $209. Ask if they got a discount on anything above $150 thang goin' on ?? Bet they do. If so,a great scope for the app will cost you <2C$.

I have a Leupold VX1 2-7x33 on my Ruger #1 .375 H&H for almost ten years now.
Great eye relief and great optics and its never shifted zero or had any sort of problem. I paid $209.00 for it then and they are the same price still.

 

The .375 is every bit as flat shooting as any 'o6, and deserves a scope that can see as far as it can be lethal. A pretty long ways. On the other hand, a big wide field of view might come in handy in Alaska from time to time.

I had a Leupold VXIII 2.5X8 on mine, as I was sure if anything needed a VXIII the .375 was probably a candidate. The difference between that and a 2X7 is pretty much theory, I can't really see any difference myself. at 7/8 you can see well enough for precision load development, at 2/2.5 you can see lots, close, fast.

 

I completely agree with the previous recommendations of the 2-7x33 Leupolds. I own at least six of this size Leupold and the best of the bunch, IMO, is the 2-7x33 30mm European model. It has excellent eye relief (nearly 5") and the eyebox is very forgiving. In my opinion it is on a par with the Zeiss Conquests I own and both give superior low light performance (but then again it costs as much too)

 

Have to go along with the Leupold 2-7X33 m/m scope with plenty of long eye relief.

 

can't go wrong with a leupold 2-7x33. they make some great scopes

 

try shotmetal.com brand. a buddy of mine bought one for me great price for the optic got a 4-16x50. I had a leupold but since I got this one I sold the leupold. the glass in my new one is so much clearer

eye relief is about 3-4 inches they are made in the u. s. a.
